About five months ago, we moved from Sacramento back to the Bay Area. We had a great life in Sacramento and felt really lucky to be able to own a home there and enjoyed the quieter pace to the day to day hustle. We completely indulged in Farm to Table movement and still miss all the quality produce and foods that is so abundant in the Central Valley! On the flip side, we just didn’t feel like we had a lot of friends or the same social network we have here in the Bay Area. Ultimately the lack of connection to the community there brought us back.
We have both reconnected with his friend base as well as my family. But this week, I have also started my third job in the past six months.
What I’ve learned through it all, is how important it is to feel connected to a place. A community, a city, a job. Really, any place you will spend a significant amount of time you want to feel connected to! I feel more at ease in the last week doing things that feel familiar and feel like a homecoming of sorts. I have seen a lot of familiar faces and received warm welcomes.
I have a good feeling about the future here.
