I was lucky enough to shoot the Pep Soap Co Spring, Summer 2019 product photography. Natalie, the owner, and creator wanted a brighter and lighter shoot than our previous session seen here. If you told me a year ago I would have a catalog of handmade soap pictures I wouldn’t have believed you. But it turns out I really love working with such passionate creative women.
We share the same ideals of being eco-friendly, low waste, and valuing handcrafted items. Natalie doesn’t use any plastics in her packaging, sources her materials locally, and comes up with the most beautiful natural scents.
Creative Planning
I usually like to meet with my clients but Natalie is based outside Vancouver, BC. We talk on the phone and over FaceTime about our projects. After we discuss, I create a Pinterest board based on images she likes, and other images I believe will work well with her vision to make sure we’re on the page visual page.
She ships me her gorgeous soaps. I start sourcing other props and fresh or perishable items so that I have everything together for the shoot. I like to use fresh items like flowers to point to the natural ingredients in the soap as well as use them for creative styling. Accessories like this agave soap saver and soap dishes that helped add texture to the photos.
Soap Photos
All her photos are delivered in a gallery where she’s able to download from.
Conclusion
It’s been such a pleasure and honor to work with other passionate entrepreneurs. Handmade soap photography isn’t something that I thought I would get into, but I’m so glad I am! Please see below to see other soap photography I’ve done with Figs and Feathers as well as my previous Pep Soap Co shoot!
