Commercial Photography
I’ve been expanding my commercial work and working with local businesses to promote their offerings. One of them is The Allspicery! Heather is the winner for the Calling all Dreamers competition in 2015! Her shop is steps away from the Capital building in Sacramento. I’m always impressed by the view of the Capital when I stop by the shop! Parking can be tricky, but there is a lot directly across from the shop and they validate your parking with purchase!
Sacramento has changed so much since we first moved here in 2014! There’s been a lot of growth since the new stadium has been built downtown. A lot more creative businesses have opened up! Check out my post here about some of the awesome creative communities that have popped up!
The Allspicery is Sacramento’s first all stop spice store! The walls are all literally lines with rows and rows of spices, flavored salts, blends, and teas. There are also friendly staffers who can measure out exactly what you need for a particular recipe, or you can pick up a pre-measured bag! I picked up their new Thai Green Curry, Sumac, and Urfa Biber.
All the blends are blended in house by staff members. When Heather opened up some of the jars to make a blend for the shoot, the shop started to smell ahhh-maze-ing! Spoiler alert: The shallots makes everyone’s nose perk up!
Spice + Teas
We decided to feature the teas. Tea can be an unhung hero in a spice store, but are made with the same care in house, much like the rest of the blends.

We were both particularly excited about the Butterfly Pea Blossom that’s made it’s way to the shop from South East Asia! The pea blossom steeps into a deep colbalt blue tea, which had me extra excited because blue is an uncommon food color in nature. It also changes color when you add acid into it, which changes the pH. This is similar to the color of hydrangea, which can have different colored flowers depending on the pH of the soil. Flora was also brewed, which has a lovely pink, almost Rose appearing! I wanted to style her to show off her playful color.

Conclusion
I had such a great time working with Heather and sampling some of her spices and teas! Honestly, I’m now hooked in the Pea Blossom tea, I really enjoy the tart flavor with a bit of lemon and it’s just stunning to look at! Hope you enjoyed learning a bit more about a local Sacramento business!
Stay tuned for a holiday edition of The Allspicery photos! 😉
