Things that humble me as a photographer: how supportive my clients are. So much so that they recommend my work to their family and friends! This has happened twice now and it still gives me allllllllll the feels! <3 <3 <3
This year my lovely friend Uyen not only had a session for her and her family, but she also invited her brothers and their families to join in! I’ve met her brothers and their families before so it’s been fun to see their families grow over the years, and see the work grow over the years also!
Three years ago… one of my first sessions:
And now:
Not only have the kids grown like crazy, but they’ve grown into their own individual and playful personalities!
There was even a new addition to the family this past year:
My goal for all family sessions are for the whole family to have fun! We went to the San Jose Municipal Rose Garden on a Sunday afternoon. All the blooms were in full effect as well as a wedding! We searched out quieter corners that had good lighting where we could shoot where we could focus on them and not all the surrounding activities.
My style of shooting is doing a few posed photos in the beginning. We start with classic portraits that your parents think of when they think of professional photography, and then I have the kids run, play, and do their thing! This is where the fun begins and they’re just being kids! Those usually end up being my favorite shots where they can just soak up the sun and nature around them away from screens and other distractions.
What’s your favorite way to play these days?! At the beach, at the park, at home in the back yard with all the comforts of home? Let me know in the comments below!
