Happy Lunar New Year friends! A lot of people refer to it as Chinese New Year as well. Lunar New Year is a time to see family, spend some time together and get ready for the New Year ahead. Now is as good of a time as any to share some of my favorite Chinese restaurants in Sacramento where you can go celebrate!
Here are some images from a local Lion Dance troupe I took this week. They typically have firecrackers go off also as a way to ward off bad spirits.
Hong Kong Islander
Neighborhood: South Land Park
Close to our first home in Sacramento, this was a staple for us when parents came to visit. We’ve only come for dim sum on weekends. It’s in such a large space that there’s not much of a wait if any on weekends which is a plus.
Yue Huang
Neighborhood: Natomas
A newer restaurant with a smaller space and brighter decor. Because of the smaller size, there can be a long wait here. We also enjoy the dim sum here. It is a bit more pricy, but they seem to focus more on service and have a more English friendly menu for people unfamiliar with Chinese food.
Yang’s Noodles
Neighborhood: South Sacramento
I love Xiao Long Bao or XLB for short. I asked my friend Sharon where I could get good XLB here and she recommended this place. It was legit and hit the spot. Hubs also found that he liked the beef noodles here. They serve homemade noodles and other recognizable favorites like scallion pancakes and wonton noodle soup.
Conclusion
I hope you enjoy a great Year of the Pig and celebrate with loved ones and good food! If you know of any good spots I didn’t mention let me know in the comments and I’m more than happy to check it out!
