Hi Friends,
This is part four(!!!) of my year-end favorite roundup! My first was about photography tools. The second about business tools. The third was about business books. Today we’re going to talk about podcasts!
Podcasts are my secret weapon to dealing with long commutes or being stuck in traffic. I also play one when I’m folding laundry or sometimes when I’m cooking. I’ve heard of others listening to them during a work out as well. I personally like my workout music to be dance music, but to each their own!
Freakanomics Radio
This was my gateway podcast. I started listening to this six (?!?) years ago and continue to listen to it this day. It’s run by the authors of Freakanomics and talk about real life economics.
What I particularly like about it:
Longevity. They keep producing new stories, and it’s one of the few podcasts hubs and I can agree to listen to together. He’s not super interested in my business podcasts.
Armchair Expert
Dax is a comedian and actor, but he’s also a pretty great interviewer. People may not know this about him. The website calls it ” a podcast that celebrates the messiness of being human.” which I find a pretty great tagline. I like celebrating the untold stories that are honest and real and he does this. He often interviews recognizable names such as Ira Glass, Conan O’Brien, and Josh Duhamel to name a few recent guests.
What I particularly like about it:
Besides the points mentioned above. It’s long. Like two hours long! It’s perfect for long car rides so you don’t have to keep picking new shows or having some other show you may not be super interested in start to play.
Spilled Milk
Molly Wizenberg and Matthew Amster-Burton are the duo behind this comedy – food podcast. This is also one of the original podcasts I started listening to many moons ago when I first started listening to podcasts. I was familiar with Molly through her first book that I thoroughly enjoyed and have recommended to others.
What I particularly like about it:
The on-air chemistry. They’ve been at this awhile, but you feel like friends at a dinner party talking about a food or ingredient which is the topic of the episode. It does a good job giving background to the topic as well as ideas on how to use and enjoy them.
Raw Milk
I’m not going to lie. I’m a Local Milk fangirl. Beth Kirby is the cook, photographer, writer, creative director, etc. behind the Local Milk brand.
Her podcast new but her online presence isn’t. She has a unique visual look that’s very identifiable, gorgeous, and storytelling ability that you don’t find just anywhere.
What I particularly like about it:
She interviews other creatives from different creative fields and not just from others in her industry. And honest conversations about what living a creative living looks like!
I hope you were able to find a podcast that you will love too! Please let me know which podcasts you’re loving now so I can check them out!
