As much as I love my home studio, it’s nice to get out of the house. I had the pleasure of doing a Branding Session at Creative Space Studios in Dublin. It was a blast for both me and my client! Creative Space Studios was the perfect spot to create a lot of different looks for clients. It was also large enough where it can accommodate social distancing for those involved. It sparked joy to be somewhere new, and with new props, backgrounds, and other photography accessories. This post is going to show you how we put together the shoot based on the client’s vision board and visual inspiration she collected.
Client transitioning service-based office business to Zoom sessions
My client Karlie is a marriage and family therapist who is transitioning her business online like a lot of services based professionals who used to see clients in their offices. She needed a website and photos to fill out the website. She contacted me once she found her web designer and the three of us worked together to put a beautiful website out into the world that reflected her personal style and vision.
Karlie made a few different boards. One was Colors, one was portraits, and one was nature. I looked at all of them and started noticing common themes in the various boards.
Planning the shoot
First, I looked at color. I looked at the images for any reoccurring colors and then I made a row of colors I kept notice reappearing.

Putting our own spin on inspiration
Then I looked at her portrait shots. I noticed the location, clothes, and posing. The poses, location, or mood may be similar. I never want to have an exact replica of the photo because that would be a copy and not taking inspiration from others.

Conclusion
I hope you enjoyed this peek into the making of a client session using their vision as inspiration for a photoshoot! You can see how much the session in inspired by the visual inspiration they collected onto a board. And also how shooting in a studio space allows for a wide range of looks all in one location.
