Emily and Dean are sweet friends of ours! They just had their baby girl Isla two months ago! They drove up to Sacramento to visit us, to see the area, and to get their first family photos done! (Quick side note: Dean and Stephen have a South African connection.)

It’s been so fun getting to know them, and seeing what parts of their lives parallel our own! We both got married, bought homes, added furry family members into the house, and now Emily and Dean have Isla! I love watching how stories unfold!

We first saw their house shortly after they closed and adopted their dog Mochi. A couple improvement projects later, they’ve fully grown into their home.

Isla is already sleeping though the night, and has big blue eyes from her dad. I couldn’t ask for a more photogenic family to work with!

Two to three months old have a special place in my heart. They’re not too floppy, but not too mobile where you have to catch them from wiggling off of things! They’re pretty agreeable, or I’m just really lucky to work with wonderful families with agreeable babies! The trick is to get them early in the morning or after a snack. We’re all happier after some sleep and food, right?!

I always include detail shots in the first year! Hands, feet, heads, and a variety of their expressions:y awns, smiles, making bubbles, you name it!  They grow so so quickly in that first year! I think it’s sweet to see how they’ll grow over a few short months. They’ll see how much or how little hair they had, or how much or how little chunk they started out with.
